Do You SMOKE without Cigarette in your fingers????

Yes, you read right.

Many of us smoke without actually smoking i.e. without even holding cigarette in our hand.

Let’s find out your answer in various situations.

a)      A Person (Boss/Client/Relative etc) smoke in front of you...you being comfortable with smoke OR being polite OR due to practical purposes/situations can’t oppose.

The Answer is: Yes, You smoke either due to ignorance or practical situations.

b)      You never encounter above situation because either your circle persons don’t smoke or they smoke not in front of you.

The Answer is: Congrats....You don’t smoke due to your luck...Your social circle is so free of smoke.

c)       You strongly oppose and either get out of the place/situation or able to convince the smoker to stop smoking while you are there.

The Answer is: Congrats...You don’t smoke due to your guts to oppose.

Now you all have understood what today’s article is about.

Yes, it is about PASSIVE SMOKING [also known as environmental tobacco smoke (ETS)]

As per https://www.wikipedia.org, Passive smoking is the inhalation of smoke by persons other than the intended “active” smoker. It occurs when tobacco smoke permeates any environment, causing its inhalation by people within that environment.

PASSIVE SMOKING IS OF TWO TYPES:

Second Hand Smoking AND Third Hand Smoking.

Before knowing what are these terms, first know about the harmful effects:
Exposure to second-hand smoke causes same diseases which are caused by active smoking and may even cause disability, cancer and death.
Various studies have proven this fact that the Passive Smoking specially 2nd Hand Smoking is MORE DANGEROUS TO HEALTH than Regular (Active) Smoking.

For details on results of one of such studies, pl visit https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1748121/
Or Just Google “Second Hand Smoking kills”.

Now, let’s know in detail:

SECOND HAND SMOKING (SHS)
SHS is a mixture of 2 forms of smoke that come from burning tobacco:
·         Sidestream smoke: Smoke from the lighted end of a cigarette
·         Mainstream smoke: The smoke exhaled by an active smoker

Example:
Suppose your friend is smoking in a room where you are also seated.
Here, your friend is Active Smoker (First Hand Smoker) and you are Passive Smoker (2nd Hand Smoker) and Interesting fact (as above mentioned) is that you are more likely to suffer diseases caused with Smoking in comparison to your friend.
(You are receiving ‘gift’ from your friend in form of diseases caused by smoking L)

Another example:
One of Passenger is smoking in Bus full of Passengers.
Here, all Passengers specially seated nearby the smoking passenger are 2nd hand smokers.

THIRD HAND SMOKING (THS)
Oh..God..So many forms of Smoking....
Suppose you enter into a room from which one person has just come out after smoking 2-3 cigarettes.
Yes..You guessed right... Now, you turned into a 3rd Hand Smoker.
Although this is less harmful in comparison to 2nd Hand Smoking but may be equally harmful as in case of Real smoking.

SOLUTIONS:
Now, Question arises what to do in such cases especially in 2nd hand smoking (SHS):

1)                              Politely oppose
Simple, you politely oppose the person who is smoking in front of you and say that you are not comfortable with the smoke (even if you don’t feel such & can handle smoke).

2)                              Get out of place wherever practically possible
If possible & practical, just get out of the room/cabin/area which is filled of smoke and open the windows etc for ventilation of smoke.

3)                              Awareness
Spread awareness. There are lot of awareness by Govt (pictorial warning on tobacco packs etc) & NGOs about the dangers of smoking, but no one warns about the risks of second hand smoke.
If your office has smokers, ask HR to provide separate smoking zone for smoker colleagues.
If your Boss is also smoker and frequently plays with cigarette, give him message directly or indirectly. During my previous job, my Boss was chain smoker and I made a "Thanks for Not Smoking"poster and pasted all over the office hall. Although it didn’t deter him to stop smoking during office hours but he tried to smoke whenever I was not around.

4)                              Play Tricks
This is upto your imagination. My favourite trick which I used successfully few times during my bus travels in Rajasthan (where most of villagers use to smoke ‘bidi’) was below:
Even after your polite request to quit smoking, the smoker doesn’t stops, simply go to the person and say you feel like vomiting and act as if you are just going to vomit over him.

So, after knowing about Second Hand Smoking, Nobody has right to say that:
“Aai laaa..Why I got heart attack/stroke even though I do not smoke?” or
“Oh God... Why are you calling me earlier than my smoker Boss/friend?”

RAISE your Voice against Second Hand Smoking after all it is matter of Your Health and No one (of course except you) has right to effect it in harmful manner.

Hope you liked today’s article and Wish you have smoke free environment wherever you go or work...

Enjoy Smoke Free Environment !

From Rs.10,000/- to Rs. 650 Crores...TRUE-INSPIRING STORY related to Power of PATIENCE & CONVICTION....

No..No..It’s not about life story of Mr. Buffet or Mr. Jhunjhunwala or other such great Value Investor..

Today’s email relates to Interesting, True and Inspiring story of a common man (actually 2 common men)...

But, first tell me have you watched “The Shawshank Redemption” (an American Drama Movie released in 1994)?

In this movie (considered as one of the best films of all time), the hero was sentenced 20 years’ imprisonment. In the prison cell, the hero used to dig the (stack) wall of Jail compound with help of little hammer consistently. His daily output was just fistful of wall debris but he was having great perseverance. In this way he literally dug a 4.46 metre long* tunnel in period of 17 long Years and escaped through it.

(*Actually, exact length not disclosed in movie but one person who watched this movie tried to calculate it in his ways & assumptions. Check his calculation working at https://yamaloka.wordpress.com/2010/09/06/shawshank-redemption-the-tunnel-length)

When I watched this movie few days back, I thought it’s just a movie..how much patience a man can have...no one waits so long for results in today’s fast paced life..Nothing such happens in real life.

But as said Human being is the best Creation of God and Nothing is impossible for him (her).

So, now we meet our Ist common man of today’s mail. He was (Late) Mr. Dashrath Manhji (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dashrath_Manjhi)

Mr. Manjhi, on whose life bollywood movie was released last month, was a labourer from Bihar, India. He did the almost same type of “magic”.. actually hundred times Bigger Magic than abovementioned movie hero’s. He cut the mountain which was barrier for his villagers using his hammer & chisel and made 360 ft long and 30 feet wide path in 22 TOIL FULL YEARS. Yes, you guessed right. No Govt or other help and No use of other tools except hammer & chisel. The Mountain Man (popularly known name for Manhji) was given state funeral by Bihar Govt and the govt also proposed his name for Padam Shree Award in 2006.
For more..just Google or click above link.

Now, you must be thinking my subject relates to Money/Wealth and I am talking here about movies.
Wait...What next I am going to share with you is also like a movie...but 100% true & Inspirational for Long-term Investors and Supporters of Value Investing and who follow Warren Buffet Ideology.

Here is our 2nd Common Man...Mr.  Mohammed Anwar Ahmed, aged 62 years from Amalner, Maharashtra, India who personally & literally broke “Mountain of Poverty” & accumulated huge wealth in 34 odd years

THE BACKGROUND

It was year of 1980. Young Ahmed, aged 27 years inherited Rs. 20,000/- after his father’s death. Coincidently he met one Mumbai Broker who was there to sell shares of newly set up vegetable oil company (Yes, Wipro was Vegetable Oil Maker at its start).Due to help provided by Ahmed in selling shares, the broker offered 100 shares having FV of Rs. 100 each for Rs. 10,000/- and luckily he accepted this offer and thus invested Rs. 10,000/- in this promising company.

THE JOURNEY TO WEALTH

After buying 10,000/- shares, Ahmed started to think himself as Wipro’s owner in part (and rightly so as shares are not just piece of papers or entries in D-mat A/c but Share in Business/Ownership in Company) and vowed that he will NEVER sell a single share of WIPRO till Mr. Azim Premji is there.

Now, see the power of this ultimate FAITH in Business & Management and PATIENCE to hold this investment through all the ups-downs-scams of Indian Share Market:

Let’s us first see how his 10,000 shares became 96,00,000 shares (yes, you read it right 96 Lacs shares in number) without buying any further single share.

Source:
http://www.wipro.com/investors/faqs/#q13-DIVIDNED

In 1980, the company declared a 1:1 bonus. He now had 200 shares.
In 1985, the company declared 1:1 bonus. Now, 400 shares.
In 1987, the company declared 1:1 bonus. 800 shares in his name.
In 1990, the company split the share to Rs.10. He thus had 8000 shares.
In 1990, the company announced a 1:1 bonus. 8,000*2 = 16,000 shares.
In 1992, the company declared a 1:1 bonus. Shares doubled again, 32,000 shares.
In 1995, the company declared a 1:1 bonus. Again doubled,  64,000 shares now.
In 1997, the company declared 2:1 bonus. He now held 1,92,000 shares.
In 1999, the company split the share to Rs.2. 1,92,000*5= Now 9,60,000 shares.
In 2004, the company declared 2:1 bonus. He thus had 28,80,000 shares.
In 2005, the company declared 1:1 bonus. He came to have 57,60,000 shares.
Latest bonus declared by WIPRO was in 2010. Ratio was 2:3.
So, by end of 2010, he owned 96,00,000 shares of WIPRO.

Now, his wealth calculation is simple. The current market price of WIRPO is Rs.555.90** per share (As on 04.09.2015). The shares are valued at Rs.533.66 crores.
(** Can’t ignore even 0.90 i.e. 90 paise from share price as this Paisa also contribute Rs.  86.40 Lacs-a very huge & handsome amount for today’s investors/traders)

Now, “Sone Pe Suhaaga” Part of this story..

Over the past years, the company regularly paid out dividends and increased them almost every year. Cumulatively he received more than Rs.119 crores as dividend over the past 33 years.

THE PRESENT

Thus Rs.10,000/- investment converted into minimum of 533+119 = Rs 652 Crores.

Mr Ahmed is now retired (Ooh..Whether such investor need to work..Yes.. to keep body & mind fit and not for his daily bread-butter & monthly bills) and donates freely to charity from the dividends he receives. His “foreign educated” children often advice him to sell the shares but he has kept his vow of not selling a single share till Mr.Azim Premji is the working Chairman.

Huuhhh....

What a true & inspiring story related to Patience...Conviction....Faith....

Really, if a person has Enormous Patience and Indispensable Faith over his decision & has CONTROL over Emotions like FEAR & GREED, he can be very Successful in EVERY FIELD of Life including Stock Markets.

“Have Conviction. Be Patient. Your Patience may be tested, but your conviction will be rewarded”- Rakesh Jhunjhunwala [Big B of Indian Stock Market (Big Bull)]

69 Simple Yet POWERFUL Ways to Serve INDIA… (Part1/4)

Dear Fellow Indians,

A Very Happy Independence Day to all of you…

Today we are celebrating our 69th Independence Day.

On this occasion, I wish to share something involving India in this 4-Part Series. Below is the 1st Part, other 3 parts will be online in a month period.

Although there is no doubt that Everyone of us is serving our mother country in the best possible manner:

(i)            By taking care of one’s health and character and
(ii)         By performing one’s duty in best possible manner as per one’s occupation

By Occupation, I mean to refer any Activity/Business/Profession, One does to earn a living and/or to pass one’s time.

If you are a student, your duty is to study, to ask questions, to understand concepts (not just Ratta Maar-Exam Paar), to help fellow students, to pass examination without any unfair means etc
If you are a Teacher, your duty is to teach, to satisfy students’ curiosity, to work extra for weaker students, to be a life time student, etc
If you are a housewife (homemaker), your duty is to take care of diet/health of family members including yours’, to keep home clean, to manage various home chores efficiently etc
If you are a professional, your duty is to act diligently, to follow code of ethics of one’s professional body/institution, to get oneself updated with the changes in one’s profession field etc
If you are an Industrialist, your duty is to earn justifiable profits which are not at cost of villagers’ life/property, not at cost of surrounding environment, to work under the laws not above the laws, to take care of industry workers’ safety & livelihood etc
If you are Public Representative, your duty is take care of public issues/problems as per priority without any discrimination on basis of caste/religion, to be available in hour of need, to raise voice of public in front of appropriate authority, no misuse of public money etc
If you are Retired Person, your duty is to enjoy the remaining life gracefully & peacefully, to share your life experiences with youth, to spend time with children (not just grand children), to help in domestic/home chores if you are living with Son & his wife etc
and so on…

However, we can do more/contribute to our country in more little & big ways. So, today on the occasion of 69th Independence Day of India, I wish to share with you 69 WAYS which are so SIMPLE that don’t need our extra time/money/energy and yet so POWERFUL that leaves big impact for benefit of Indian citizens and our country as a whole.

Every step which is listed below focuses on India’s Natural Environment/Social-Biological Environment/Natural Resources Preservation/Nourishment of Poor Indians/Health-Employment-Education of Country Citizens/Promotion of Economy-Rural & Urban/Increase People’s Productivity-Faith & Harmony amongst Indians etc…ultimately leading to overall benefit of Indians & development of India

These steps may look like very small step….but as rightly said by our beloved PM Mr Modi that if 1 Indian takes 1 step the whole India takes 1 Billion Steps
For ex. See the Point No 1 below. If 1 Indian applies this, s/he can save 3 to 5 A4 Size Papers every month. And if this is followed by 1 Billion Indians, 36 to 60 Billion Paper sheets can be saved every year.
Ok..take just 10% of this..then also it is a huge impact (i.e. 3.60 to 6 Billion Paper sheets every year)

Lastly, I must say that you must be already doing some of steps mentioned below. In this case, if you like and agree to some new idea(s), please adopt that one and if you have some other ideas or practicing on regular basis, do share. I would like to share in other 3 Parts of this post

In no particular order, here are the 69 little-big-usual-unusual Ways/Methods/Approaches in my view:

1) Subscribe for e-statement instead of Physical Statement for Bank Statements/Credit Card Statements/Mobile-Landline Bills etc. And, while using ATMs, avoid printing of ATM Slips.
(Just send a SMS to a No. written on every physical statement/Bill or visit the service provider’s website)
No more ATM Slips/Physical Bills/Statements

2)     Assist/Encourage for Opening of Bank A/c of your Security Guard/Office Boys/House Help/Office Sweeper etc. I know..little difficult in absence of complete documents…but we can arrange…
(Call your Banker to your Home/Office or Visit the Bank alongwith the person & his/her Minimum Docs required for opening ‘No Frills’ /Basic Savings Account)
You can also get Bank A/c under PM Jan-Dhan Yojana www.pmjdy.gov.in/scheme_detail.aspx)
Bank A/c for at least one person

3)  Less/No use of Deos/Perfume which are not healthy & environment friendly. Check it out http://www.treehugger.com/health/why-you-should-say-no-fragrance.html
(Either say Ta-Ta Bye-Bye to such products or If you can’t, then Buy Other Alternative which may not be pocket friendly but are more environment friendly or the Best Idea-Make your own Toxic Free Perfume. Check http://www.onegreenplanet.org/lifestyle/diy-non-toxic-perfume)
Avoid/Minimum Use of Deo/Perfume etc

4)     More use of Jute Bags while going for shopping/Market and lesser use of Plastic/Polythene Bags even if there is no ban on plastic in your city/ state
(Always have One small Bag (Plastic/Jute) in your Office bag/Car/Bike so that No Polythene from the Shopkeeper everytime you buy small stuffs (Veggies/Milk /Small Grocery etc)
Get Jute bags online @ flipkart.com/myntra.com/other e-commerce site)
Jute Bags instead of Plastic Carry bags

5)    Social Invest (Lend money) to Needy Rural Poor Women to assist in their micro-business through Micro-lending websites.
RangDe.Org is regd Non-profit Organisation, providing Micro-credit to needy Indians @ fair interest rate and provides us an online platform to make social investment.
You can start making donation social investment as low as Rs. 100/- and this is refundable (along with low interest, if you wish).
(Visit http://www.rangde.org or milaap.org or other such sites and start lending money online)
Social Invest t/h Micro-Lending Websites

6)     Teach 1-2 Hr per week to Slum/Poor Students. Look such school in/nearby your location which are run by NGO where you can teach as per your time schedule.
(Best idea to get info about such (unadvertised) school-Read local newspaper 2-3 days before Teachers’ Day (5th Sept)
Teaching to Poor Students whether at your home/NGO School

7)     Online sign petitions which of National/Social Interest at www.Change.org Don’t think these don’t work in India. It Actually WORKS..http://www.nextbigwhat.com/online-petitions-in-india-297/
(When you see or feel something is worth Petition, just login to www.CHANGE.org)

(There are hundreds of little ways to save water-Pl use practical ways whenever possible)
PLAY your PART, Be Water SMART

10)  Use of Hindi wherever practically possible. Yes, we have to respect English as International and Business Language but when 2 Indians are communicating non-business talks in English, it seems like the Soul of conversation is dead. Love, Promote & Communicate in Hindi in its truest spirits of the pride of our national language.
(Use Hindi at least in your signatures, Write in Hindi wherever possible, Learn Hindi Typing if it suits you, Use HINGLISH instead of Pure ENGLISH as per situations)
Desh Ki Aasha-Hindi Bhasha_Hindi-Language of National Integration

By this, one can promote Rural India’s economy.
(If you like Handicrafts & can afford, buy from Artisans or Handlooms or such cos).
Purchase handmade products of Rural India whenever possible

13) Get In touch directly with our PM through his site & email. India’s is not just PM or Govt’s responsibility. It’s collective responsibility of all Indian citizens.
Raise your voice through use of technology…PMO replies to your mail (Recently PMO responded to my mail related to Strict Law against Road Accidents, however after 20 days)
(Login to www.mygov.nic.in and start sending your suggestions/feedback/opinions on various issues related to growth & development of India)
Interact with PM & be updated about Govt. Initiatives

14)   Pledge yourself…Never bargain (& oppose if our family member/relative does so) about little things which being sold by our poor citizens on footpath/roadside (viz Flower Pots/Home use articles, Handmade Items, Vegetables etc).
(Why to bargain with Street Vendors & Rickshaw walas even though we happily pay 50% to 500% more money at Malls-Restaurants)
Let’s stop such culture of bargaining

15) Avoid/Minimum use of Cold Drinks (Slow Poison as per WHO) and promote Lassi/Chhach/Lemonade/Gulab Sharbat, thus promoting yours & relatives’ health and Rural Indian’s Wealth (Rural Economy)
(Put Carbonated Beverages in your Toilets as they are best Cleaners & Keep Sharbats-Lassi-Chhach etc in your Fridge)
Maximum use of Tasty -Healthy Desi Drinks
